# Console Issues Debugging and Fixes

## ✅ **CONSOLE ISSUES RESOLVED**

Fixed multiple console issues that were affecting the application's performance and user experience.

## 🐛 **Issues Identified and Fixed**

### **1. Excessive API Calls to `/api/products/search?q=100`**

#### **Problem**

- The product search API was being called repeatedly with the same query "100"
- This was causing unnecessary network traffic and potential performance issues
- The search was triggered on every keystroke without debouncing

#### **Root Cause**

- The `searchTerm` state was being used directly in the React Query key
- No debouncing mechanism was in place to prevent rapid API calls
- Each keystroke triggered a new API request

#### **Solution**

- Added debouncing with 300ms delay to prevent excessive API calls
- Implemented `debouncedSearchTerm` state that updates after user stops typing
- Updated React Query to use the debounced search term

```tsx
// Debounced search term to prevent excessive API calls
const [debouncedSearchTerm, setDebouncedSearchTerm] = useState("");
useEffect(() => {
    const timer = setTimeout(() => {
        setDebouncedSearchTerm(searchTerm);
    }, 300); // 300ms debounce
    return () => clearTimeout(timer);
}, [searchTerm]);
// Fetch products with debounced search term
const { data: products, isLoading: productsLoading } = useQuery({
    queryKey: ["products", debouncedSearchTerm],
    queryFn: async () => {
        const response = await authService.authenticatedRequest(
            `https://sellzaki.local/api/products/search?q=${encodeURIComponent(
                debouncedSearchTerm
            )}`
        );
        if (!response.ok) {
            throw new Error("Failed to fetch products");
        }
        return response.json();
    },
    enabled: debouncedSearchTerm.length > 0,
});
```

### **2. TypeError: data.map is not a function in ProductCategorySelector**

#### **Problem**

-   ProductCategorySelector was throwing `TypeError: data.map is not a function`
- This was preventing the promotion creation/editing forms from loading product and category data
- The error occurred because the API response structure was not what the component expected

#### **Root Cause**

- The `/api/admin/coding/items` endpoint returns a wrapped response:
    ```json
    {
      "success": true,
      "data": [...], // Actual items array
      "pagination": {...}
    }
    ```
- The component was trying to call `data.map()` directly on the response
- It should have been calling `data.data.map()` to access the actual items array

#### **Solution**

- Updated both `fetchProducts` and `fetchCategories` methods to handle wrapped responses
- Added proper error handling and type checking
- Made the code robust to handle both direct array responses and wrapped responses

```tsx
if (response.ok) {
    const responseData = await response.json();
    // Handle both direct array response and wrapped response
    const items = responseData.data || responseData;
    if (Array.isArray(items)) {
        setProducts(
            items.map((item: any) => ({
                id: item.id,
                name: item.name,
                description: item.description,
                category_name: item.category?.name,
            }))
        );
    } else {
        console.error("Expected array but got:", typeof items, items);
        setProducts([]);
    }
}
```

### **3. Date Format Warnings for HTML Date Inputs**

#### **Problem**

- Console was showing warnings: `The specified value "2025-10-01 00:00:00" does not conform to the required format, "yyyy-MM-dd"`
- HTML date inputs were receiving datetime strings instead of date-only strings
- This was causing validation warnings and potential form submission issues

#### **Root Cause**

- The backend API was returning datetime strings (e.g., "2025-10-01 00:00:00")
- HTML date inputs expect only the date part (e.g., "2025-10-01")
- The EditPromotion component was directly using the backend datetime values

#### **Solution**

- Updated the EditPromotion component to convert datetime strings to date strings
- Added proper date format conversion when setting form data
- Ensured HTML date inputs receive the correct format

```tsx
setFormData({
    name: data.name || "",
    description: data.description || "",
    start_date: data.start_date ? data.start_date.split(" ")[0] : "",
    end_date: data.end_date ? data.end_date.split(" ")[0] : "",
    is_active: data.is_active ?? true,
    stackable: data.stackable ?? false,
    requires_voucher: data.requires_voucher ?? false,
    branch_scope: data.branch_scope || "all",
    selected_branches: data.selected_branches || [],
});
```
